Gerry's Opening Monologue -
"This is Gerry Prokopowicz, with Civil War Talk Radio,...
| ...the Battle of The Crater, in 1864, is one of the iconic moments of the Civil War. The technological innovation of digging under Confederate lines, the drama of the explosion, the "what could've been" irony of the attack that failed and especially the participation in subsequent massacre of United States colored troops. All of these make The Crater one of the most remembered moments of the Civil War. But the way it has been remembered has not always been the same. We will talk today with Kevin M. Levin, author of "Remembering the Battle of The Crater: War as Murder," that is today on Civil War Talk Radio." |
