"This is Gerry Prokopowicz, with Civil War Talk Radio,...
| ...When visitors go to a museum or historic site, research indicates that the thing that makes the biggest impression on them isn't the artifacts, or the exhibits, or the gift shop, or the food service. It's the people. Any museum visit can be made into a positive experience by a good docent or guide. And it can be made unforgettable, for better or worse, by a living history presenter. Most of us have come across examples of history being presented by someone dressed as a Civil War soldier at a battlefield or museum. But who are these people? Who trains them? Can you make a living doing this? One person who might know the answers to these questions is interpretive consultant Gene Harmon, the principal of Inheriting Heritage, LLC. He'll be our guest tonight on Civil War Talk Radio." |
