Gerry's Opening Monologue -
"This is Gerry Prokopowicz, with Civil War Talk Radio,...
| "...most of us have read of how Civil War regiments were raised, how inspirational orators persuaded young men to volunteer for service in companies, often led by those same orators. And how officers and men alike had to teach themselves the unfamiliar craft of soldiering. We read about it, but today we will hear from someone who has actually done it. Gregory Urwin, who organized and led a company of volunteers to portray Union soldiers in the movie "Glory," also spends his spare time writing about American military history, including his first book some decades ago on General Custer's Civil War career. We will talk about all this and more today, with Greg Urwin, on Civil War Talk Radio." |
